What’s My30

One in three people in America is now classified obese. Studies have shown that 150 minutes of physical activity a week will help curb our growing problem. My30 is our campaign to inspire people to become more physically active through an online community centered on healthy living. We all need 150 minutes of physical activity each week. When you break it down, it’s easier than you think – just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. At the Y, we’re committed to improving the health and well-being of our nation, and that begins within our own communities. Whether it’s reconnecting with a friend on the treadmill, de-stressing with lunchtime yoga, or going for a bike ride with your family, everyone can get their 30 each day.

You can join the conversation by using the hashtag #My30 on Twitter, tagging My30 in your Facebook posts or posting photos or videos of you and your friends getting your 30 together. Check the site frequently for a calendar of events happening right in your own neighborhood, a chance to connect with others who share similar interests and opportunities to win prizes just by sharing your 30 each day. We hope you’ll join us and inspire others to be part of the movement.

Using the My30 Website

Members—It’s easy to become a My30 member! Join by creating a profile, manually or be quick and use Facebook to sign in, and then you’ll be part of the movement. You’ll use your username and password to log in, then you’ll be able to customize your profile, update your status in the activity stream, make connections by adding friends, and get inspired by joining or even creating groups!

PostsPosts are created by the YMCA’s fitness, health, and dietary professionals. Find ways to improve your health, peruse community events where you can get in your 30, and learn about participating YMCA programs.

Activity Stream—The activity stream lists what’s happening on My30. This includes status updates, published posts activity, and group creations and updates. Let people know what you’re doing to get in your 30—maybe you’ll inspire them!

People—Our people are our My30 members! You can search for members and add friends to your profile.

Groups—Groups are a great way to find people with similar interests. Does line dancing interest you? Or do you frequent the Barco-Newton YMCA? If yes, join these groups and get ideas on what to do for your 30…or give people ideas! Don’t see anything that interests you? Request a new group centered around an interest or idea.
